Ms. Klabunde, District Reading Specialist

Q: How many years have you worked in education/schools?
A: This is my 19th year in education!

Q: What drew you to working in schools and/or HJT1, specifically?
A: I was drawn to Hartford Joint #1 because of its strong commitment to each individual student. I appreciate the district’s emphasis on collaboration among students, staff, and families, as well as its belief that every student deserves both high expectations and the support they need to be successful. As an educator, I believe strongly in getting to know students as individuals, using a variety of information to understand their needs, and working together to help them grow. I’m excited to be part of a district that values student growth, belonging, and a strong partnership between schools and families.

Q: Share some your favorites - snack, hobby, activity, book, travel destination.
A: Favorite Snacks - Gummy Bears and Pringles; Favorite Hobbies - Reading and Puzzles; Favorite Season -Fall; Favorite Animal - Elephant

Q: If you could teach any class for a day, what would it be? Or what was your favorite subject in school?
A: Math was always my favorite subject growing up, but now I love to teach reading!

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I’m a big foodie and love trying new restaurants, discovering new foods, and sharing good meals with family and friends.

Q: How many years have you worked in education/schools?
A: Third year working at Lincoln (first two years as a paraprofessional)

Q: What drew you to working in schools and/or HJT1, specifically?
A: Being on the same schedule as my children and also being able to get back into working with kids. My previous experience has been with adults with disabilities.

Q: Share some your favorites - snack, hobby, activity, book, travel destination.
A: I really enjoy reading and love fantasy books, like Fourth Wing, and I enjoy spending time with my family that includes my husband, son in 6th grade, daughter in 2nd grade and a newborn daughter!

Q: If you could teach any class for a day, what would it be? Or what was your favorite subject in school?
A: I love teaching writing and being able to see the creativity come out of the students that I work with! They make me laugh everyday!

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I love coffee, my favorite drink is the Campfire Mocha from Caribou! I am also on the PTO for Lincoln and love being able to make a difference for students and teachers!

Want to Volunteer?

Before volunteering with students or chaperoning a field trip, all volunteers must complete required volunteer training and paperwork. That’s why we’re offering several Volunteer Classes throughout the school year. You only need to attend ONE session to get trained, complete your paperwork, ask questions, and be ready when an opportunity to volunteer comes your way. *All volunteers are pending background check approval.

We get to support our students. We get to strengthen our schools. We get to do it together. Contact Mr. Navarre with any questions regarding the classes, no matter your school of interest.

Training Date Options:

ALL Volunteer Class Times are 6:15 - 7:00 PM at Lincoln Elementary School Library.
